Roberto Cavalli Man Spring Summer 2012 Fashion Show

Roberto Cavalli evolves the elegance and tailoring of the last collection, freeing the man from the rigour of Winter and dressing him with the freshness and positivity of Summer.

Italian tailoring is enriched with colour, embroidered thread and embellishments.
The jacket is rigorously cut with a close-fitting back, a narrow front with generously proportioned, embroidered lapels.
The shirt is also tailored, made in cotton and enriched with details that give it a less formal, intriguing edge, the pants harmoniously follow the line of the leg. The casual tuxedo suits are illuminated with sashes of embroidered silk. The silhouette enhances the long line of the body.
Authentic masculine tailoring fabrics, such as mohair, grain de poudre and linen/silk, are interpreted through the use of colour and specialised weaving techniques.
The colour palette includes a gradient scale of blue that declines into a purple, and a strong presence of white, with sprinklings of colour that evoke the earth and the sun.
Prints are present as all-over micro-designs, vertical graphics and photographic reinterpretations of specialised leather processing from the archives of Cavalli.
Leather is the protagonist for much of the collection: American inspiration for blazers and jackets made in suede and python with precious tassles, paired with denim and linen in bright, bold colours.

Top Spring 2012 Trends From New York Fashion Week

Donna Karan Spring 2012 Collection

Hey there fashion lovers! Even though most people are still figuring out their Fall wardrobe, it’s time to get more acquainted with Spring-wear because before you know it, snow will be melting and flowers will be back in bloom. From the sporty theme to vivacious prints and everything else in between, here is the 411 on some of the top Spring trends for 2012.

First up is colorblocking. There has been some serious colorblocking seen on the runways and colorblocking always adds that oomph factor! Don’t be afraid to bring a little color into your lives. Colorblocking brought a structural feel to soft Spring silhouettes. BCBG, Marc by Marc Jacobs, and Narciso Rodriguez are just a few collections that introduced that trend for the Spring.

Next is the sporty look. Anyone want to go for a run? Whether or not you’re athletic, this look is very accessible. Everyone has those days when they don’t feel like dressing up and would rather wear a hoodie and sweatpants. This was seen as the most dominant trend on the catwalk during New York Fashion Week. There were anoraks, mesh, hoodies, and plenty of surf looks. Someone will be prepared to ride the waves when the warm weather comes back around!

Victoria Beckham's Spring/Summer 2012 Collection

The ’20s are making a comeback! As the saying goes, “History repeats itself,” and it sure does. The bold, newly independent woman of the 1920s served as inspiration for sparkly outfits. Some included Tory Burch, Ralph Lauren, and Marc Jacobs as well.

Moving along, it’s time to bring that WOW factor! Prints, prints, prints! Prints dominated the runways, from animal to floral and everything else in between, prints aren’t going anywhere anytime soon. Designers looked afar for inspiration which resulted in rich, global prints with earth tones and an exotic feel for Spring. Also, elaborate floral prints had a wild time on the runway, seen in head-to-toe styles. Some of these collections included Jason Wu, Michael Kors, LAMB, and Donna Karan.

Lastly, colors like orange, seafoam green and white were making statements on the runway. White makes a powerful statement, seafoam green is pretty mellow, but doesn’t go unnoticed, and orange added a pop of color. Also, seafoam green is a pastel color, which makes it surprisingly easy to wear. With emphasized loose shapes and beautiful drapes, white added to the textured, flowing looks. Even if orange is too daring or difficult to wear as an outfit, an orange accessory can add a lot to any wardrobe.

Top 10 Spring 2012 Heels

While everyone else had their eyes firmly glued to the clothing trends of the spring 2012 season, I was fixated on the feet.

Shoe trends for spring come in two varieties, crazy and over-the-top or minimal and functional. The most obvious extremes are Versace’s see-through mega heels (6 inches or more!) versus Comme des Garçons’ white, almost sterile boots. In the interim areDries van Noten’s simple strappy sandals, Chanel’smod booties, Prada’s race car heels, Miu Miu’s kitschy knee-highs, and Proenza Schouler’s synthetic wedges.

If that’s not enough shoe porn for a long weekend, then I think you have a serious addiction.
